Position: Systems Navigator – Volunteer – 3 to 3.5 hours per week

Role Description:

The Service Navigator position provides an opportunity to address real and systemic barriers to services that may be amplified by poverty, inequity and intersecting personal identities by:
• Engaging clients through empathetic, supportive, open-minded, and non-judgmental communication and support.
• Provide transportation assistance and accompaniment to government offices.
• Assist clients with applications for identification and services, both online and paper based.
• Troubleshoot when applications are not accepted.
• Facilitate payments for clients without income or low income, such as ODSP, CPP, CPP-D or OAS
• Identify other community resources in place to assist clients


Position: Cook/Baker – Volunteer – Occasional Monday-Friday

Role Description:

We are seeking enthusiastic and service-oriented volunteers to assist with meal preparation, baking, and related tasks for our programs and special events. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who have a passion for cooking and baking and wish to contribute to the community by providing nutritious and delicious meals to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers in meal and baked goods preparation for programs or events.
  • Set tables, serve meals, and provide refreshments to clients if required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dishes, utensils, and work surfaces.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations to ensure a hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Uphold client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Create a welcoming dining experience.
  • Record and submit volunteer hours accurately.
  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality.
  • Report to the Dietitian and/or Program Coordinator and collaborate with CCHC staff.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow recipes and cooking/baking instructions.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Friendly and positive attitude, with strong teamwork capabilities.
  • Commitment to food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Genuine interest in meal preparation and baking.
  • Experience in meal preparation and baking (preferred, but not required).
  • Willingness to undergo WHMIS training (if not certified).
  • Food Handler training program completion (preferred).

Position: Driver – Volunteer

2nd Tuesday of the month, 9 AM – 2 PM (with potential for involvement in other programs)

Role Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Volunteer Driver to join our team and provide transportation for our Seniors Social Program.  As a Volunteer Driver, you will be an essential part of our efforts to enhance the quality of life for seniors in our community by ensuring they can attend our valuable programs and services. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport clients using CCHC vehicles to and from various program locations within the catchment area.
  • Perform basic safety checks, maintenance, and record-keeping for the vehicle.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Complete and manage a driver’s log and vehicle checklists, reporting any issues promptly. 
  • Fuel vehicles at the end of each assignment.
  • Record and submit volunteer hours accurately.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding client information.
  • Aid riders as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with the CCHC regarding any changes or incidents.
  • Greet clients and visitors warmly and professionally.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License with a clean record for at least three years.
  • Minimum age of 25 or at least 9 years driving history.
  • Proof of insurance.
  • No health conditions that impair driving ability.
  • Annual driver’s abstract and vulnerable sector police check.
  • Friendly, welcoming demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Punctual and able to remain calm in emergencies.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
