Mobile Unit
In January, the Central Community Health Centre launched a new mobile unit to bring health promotion and wellness programs and services currently being offered at the centre out to the smaller communities of St Thomas, Central Elgin and Southwold Townships.
The Central Community Health Centre (CCHC) opened its doors in October 2011. Funded by the Ministry of Health through the Southwest Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), the Centre’s purpose is to provide primary health care (nurse practitioners and physicians) for people living in St. Thomas, Southold Township, and Central Elgin who do not have a health care provider.
The Centre also offers social work services for our clients and chiropody, community outreach, health promotion, and dietitian services and programs for both our clients and people in our community. The model of care at the centre has all of these health care professionals working together to provide health and wellness.
Community needs that may be filled by the use of the Mobile Unit will continue to be assessed with community engagement and assessment. We are happy to take the Mobile Unit out to local fairs, festivals and community gatherings.
