St. Thomas – In 2023, Central Community Health Centre (CCHC) received a grant of $17,089 from the Government of Ontario Seniors Community Grant Program to support CCHC program initiatives such as the new Seniors Social Group. The group runs monthly and increases perceived social support and connection amongst the seniors in St. Thomas, Southwold Township, and Central Elgin. This grant will give senior community members better quality programming tailored to their needs.
“In addition to the Seniors’ Social Group Program, the grant will aid in funding a digital lending library, providing clients access to iPads, digital cameras and internet access where needed.” said Judith Wiley, CCHC CEO. “The addition of the digital lending library allows equitable access to technology for CCHC clients.”
The Central Community Health Centre is committed to ensuring its programming remains high quality and accessible to those in the community. For more information about the programming Central Community Health Centre offers visit www.centralchc.com.
“This project is great news for seniors in St. Thomas” said Raymond Cho, Ontario’s Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “Through the Seniors Social Group you are helping seniors stay active and socially connected, close to home.”
“Central Community Health Centre provides important socialization support to seniors in our community through the Seniors Social Group,” said Rob Flack, Member of Provincial Parliament for Elgin-Middlesex-London. “I am proud that our government continues to support vital programs such as this through the Seniors Community Grant Program.”
Central Community Health Centre is grateful to the Government of Ontario for its generous contribution to CCHC programming.
