  • CCHC has exciting opportunities for community volunteers! Whether it be to build your resume, to enhance retirement free time, to build new skills, to meet new friends or simply because you want to give back to your community, we would love to hear from you.     Mobile Unit drivers

    • Clean driving record, calm and flexible personality to drive mobile unit around Elgin

    • Usually a full day at a time

    Van drivers

    • Clean driving record, calm and flexible personality to drive clients to specialist appointments, usually in London

    Smoking Cessation Workshop Leaders

    • Program delivery of smoking cessation program

    • Peer support

    Social Media Coordinator 

    • Administrative support to assist staff in roll out of social media plan

    • Hands on with Facebook, website, other social media

    Seniors Drop-In Assistant

    • Assists staff to develop “programming” for this drop in

    • Act as host for the group

    • Set up and clean up room

    Client Advisory Committee (3 spots open)

    • Advise staff on program needs

    • Assist staff with program evaluation and monitoring

    Client Advocate (in waiting room)

    • Greets clients, helps move clients through the Centre, controls noise and disruption in waiting area, assists staff to ensure clients are waiting too long, supports clients who are feeling anxiety

    Systems Navigator, program support person (2 positions)

    • To work with Mennonite/Amish clients

    • To complete paperwork with clients who need to apply for various forms of identification

    Maintenance workers

    • General cleaning during hours when centre is open, light repairs, gardening

    Primary Care

    • Retired nurse; assist with chronic disease group sessions, needle exchange, flu clinics, assist with immunizations etc.

    Fund Development Support

    • Experience planning and or implementing a fund raising plan

    • Connections with persons of financial means

    • Willingness to learn how to make presentations or “asks” on behalf of CCHC

    Communications, including social media

    • Working experience in the communications field

    • Working experience in public relations and or marketing

    • Experience with Facebook or other social media i.e. ability to put out approved communications items

    • High comfort with social media

    • High comfort with various software programs

    Program development and delivery

    • Interest in or expertise in subject matter, e.g. yoga instructor, meditation session leader, fit walk leader, drumming, art instructor

    • Volunteer experience

    Advisory Groups

    • Interest and or experience in subject matter

    • Experience working in committees

    Board Members

    • Strategic, big picture thinkers

    • Connections with business, political leaders

    • Experience with fund raising

    • Policy governance experience

    Multiple Administration Volunteers

    • Support for M-SAA workgroups; ability to make phone calls to clients to book appointments, discuss need for appointment

    • Answer phones

    • Scan documents

    • General office support, e.g. photocopy, filing, mailings

    • ID assistant to fill out government forms
